PROMETHE sector

Historically, in Dijon, pharmaco-imaging projects have been created through Pharm’image (economic interest group), in particular with the development of the IMAkinib® program (based on Nanocyclix® technology, tyrosine kinase inhibitors, for emission imaging positrons), which made it possible to bring together laboratories active in the field of nuclear medicine.

In this context, PROMETHE® (precision oncology medicine theranostics) nonprofit organization is positioning itself. It was created on July 3, 2023 by Mr Philippe Genne, PhD (CEO of the company OPM) and Mr Charles Coutant, MD, PhD (director of the Dijon cancer center, CGFL). This association is non-profit (under French law governed by the law of July 1, 1901) and focuses on the development of the nuclear medicine sector applied to the development of radiotheranostic molecules for the treatment of cancers.

PROMETHE®’s mission is to improve public health, in particular to accelerate the discovery and development of new radiotheranostic molecules effective against advanced and resistant cancers. The objectives are as follow:

• Federation and connection of players in the field at regional, national and European level;
• Development of the sector with support from stakeholders for the production of medical isotopes; the structuring of nuclear medicine services leading to the improvement of patient care; and lobbying regulatory authorities for good reimbursement of RIV drugs;
•  Improvement and creation of academic and private training;
• Popularization and communications for patients, caregivers and the general public.
